NC Teacher Evaluation
McREL (Midcontinent Center for Research for Education and Learning)
The NC Public Schools Commission partnered with McREL to create a valid and reliable instrument to evaluate teachers. The purpose of the new evaluation instrument is to support and promote effective leadership, quality teaching, and student learning. It has a growth model to improve instruction and enhance professional practice and the evaluation instruments are based on the Framework for 21st Century Learning and the Standards. The rubrics are formative in nature based on a rating scale from "developing" through "distinguished." In addition, multiple data sources, artifacts, and evidence are used in assessing educator performance.
